Contact us and book through our website or email, and ring if you have any further queries. An intake form will be emailed for you to complete prior to your appointment, this helps us learn more about your reason for visit.
-
Once you have booked, you will be emailed a patient intake form. this includes questions about yours and your family’s medical history and provides the opportunity for you to describe the pain and or symptoms you have been experiencing. Filling this in before your appointment allows your chiropractor to maximise time during your initial face to face appointment.
-
Your initial consultation will begin with an in-depth subjective history using the previously filled out intake form and any more questions the chiropractor may have for you.
Following this, the chiropractor will commence their physical examination which may include:
Posture and gait assessment
Range of motion testing
Physical palpation assessment
Orthopaedic testing
Neurological testing
Report of findings and working diagnosis
Treatment can commence in your initial consultation where clinically appropriate. The purpose of this appointment is to learn about you and your condition, ensuring your treatment plan will be safe and tailored towards you as an individual
-
After the initial consultation has been conducted, your chiropractor will discuss an appropriate treatment plan for you in terms of spacing between appointments, what treatments will work best for you and propose some self-management strategies to support your progression between appointments.
This appointment is 30 minutes (see services list for pricing). Initially, your appointments will aim to reduce pain and gradually move to maintenance and improvement of overall functionality and mobility.
your chiropractor will use a range of treatment modalities including soft tissue therapy (massage, cupping, activator, scraping, massage gun etc), Spinal Manipulative Therapy (SMT) and some exercise and rehabilitation prescription.
About your chiropractic visit
-
A chiropractor is a regulated health professional that focuses on the diagnosis, management and prevention of conditions affecting your musculoskeletal system (your spine, muscles, joints and ligaments).
A chiropractor will use multiple treatment techniques to restore proper joint mechanisms, improving efficiency of the body’s nervous system without the use of drugs.
Although most people seek chiropractic care with the aim of reducing pain, the treatment and management a chiropractor provides aims to go beyond this symptomatic relief and instead treat the root cause of your issue. This means chiropractic can additionally improve a patients movement and mobility, reduce postural concerns and improve overall physical function.
-
Chiropractic care treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. While back and neck pain are the most commonly associated, chiropractic also treats:
headaches and migraines
sports injuries
sciatica
postural issues
general aches and pains
Extremity issues eg. shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle
-
The side effects of chiropractic care are typically mild and temporary, resolving 24-48 hours after your appointment. The slight challenge to a vertebra or a stiff joint can cause short-term local inflammation and irritation.
As a result, some people experience mild soreness and stiffness or fatigue following their appointment as your body expends energy to adapts to its new alignment.
-
When receiving chiropractic care, an area being treated may already be experiencing some pain or tenderness through inflammation and swelling. Despite this, chiropractic manipulation and treatment should be comfortable.
Some people hear a ‘click’ during their spinal adjustment. This is through a pressure change inside the joint which releases a gas bubble when an adjustment is performed. The ‘click’ is not bones cracking or bones being put back into place despite popular belief.
The volume of a ‘click’ can depend on both anatomy or level of joint pressure. A ‘click’ is not necessarily required for an adjustment to be effective.
